Church of the Resurrection was born out of a desire to worship God. The Presbyterian Church in America had an empowering vision fueled by prayer to plant a new congregation in Flagstaff, Arizona to the glory of God. In the spring of 2002, the Southwest Church Planting Network began a process of discernment that culminated with the establishment of Church of the Resurrection in Flagstaff.

The Steering Committee gathered and plans came to fruition for a Sunday, October 7, 2007 launch at DeMiguel Elementary School. After one year, the church moved its worship service to the Commons at Coconino Community College on October 5, 2008, and stayed for five years. An army of faithful volunteers set up and stored away our portable church week after week. During this time, The Learning Center, located at 751 E. Pine Knoll Dr., became our headquarters for ministry. With growth and maturity, we transitioned from a mission church to being particularized on November 14, 2010, as a full-fledged congregation able to assume the mantle of a church in mission for others. Ruling Elders were elected and the congregation moved forward in advancing the kingdom of God in Flagstaff.

In the fall of 2012, God opened the door of opportunity to purchase our current church property at 740 W. University Heights Dr. South. Remarkable acts of generosity enabled this fledgling congregation to raise a down payment of $225,000 in 45 days. Then to complete the sale and generate funds for renovation an additional $745,000 in church bonds was raised. Praise God! Much hard work in remodeling created the sacred space for a wonderful opening worship celebration on October 6, 2013.  God is so good! He has provided for our every need! Finally, our church had a permanent home. We are truly a grateful people and praise God for his faithfulness to us. 

Our founding pastor, Bob Norton, retired on April 21, 2019. As such, we began a search for a new pastor and God, once again, was faithful to us and brought us our new pastor, Joshua Walker. Pastor Joshua Walker was installed as the senior pastor on February 2, 2020, and he has been serving our congregation ever since. On January 16, 2022 we ordained and installed Ty Reece as an elder and on February 11, 2024 we ordained and installed John Clark and Adam Benton as deacons. 

We are committed to living for the glory of God and trusting Him for the growth of His Church here in Flagstaff, AZ.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,  forever and ever! Amen”  (Ephesians 3:20–21).
