Fall Sermon Series

“Walking with the Giants”

Heroes of Faith in the Old Testament

Some of the most inspiring and motivating stories emerge out of the lives of men and women of faith as found in the Old Testament.  Many modern people are not as aware of the Old Testament, but our language is laced with images and analogies whose roots are from these stories.  Becoming a well-rounded, intelligent person needs to include an extensive knowledge of the Old and New Testaments.  The New Testament is found in the Old concealed and the Old Testament is found in the New revealed.  “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the people of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We believe your unchurched, not-yet-Christian friends will be intrigued by these stories which are ancient and yet ever new in their relevance and potential application to our lives in the contemporary world.  Why not invite them.  You may have Jewish friends who would like to hear messages shared from their own sacred writings.  By all means, parents and grandparents need to bring their children/grandchildren to hear these stories which can form faith in boys and girls and prepare them for the future.

This Fall Series will start with the following sermons in October:

Sunday, October 2nd – “ABRAHAM: Answering God’s Call” Genesis 12:1-3

Sunday, October 9th – “JACOB: Wrestling with God”
Genesis 32:22-32

Sunday, October 16th – “JOSEPH: Trusting the

Sovereign God” Genesis 37-50

Sunday, October 23rd – “MOSES: Liberating Leader ship” Exodus 3:1-15
