From Pastor Elias Reyes

From Pastor Elias Reyes
“…forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal
for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us then who are mature be of the
same mind…” Philippians 3:13b-15a.
As we start the year let’s look at Scripture to guide us at the onset. In this Text, St. Paul gives us
a process by which we can walk in the abundance of God’s Grace and purpose. May I suggest that in the
Text the following implications are made by St. Paul:
1. Forget the past—Keep reaching out for Christ
2. Keep your eye on the goal
3. God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus
4. Be off and running—no turning back
5. Keep focused on that goal
What a way to start the year reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for us.
With that goal as a guide for the rest of the year, I believe that whatever comes our way we will be
more aware of God’s purpose in and for our lives. We know that Jesus indeed is with us every step of
the way. So, my friends, let us fix our attention on God. We’ll be changed from the inside out. We will
readily recognize what he wants from us…and quickly respond to it.
