The Importance of Being a “Friendly Church”

Recently we received seven new members into our church family and several mentioned how much they appreciated the “friendliness and love” of COR.  We thank God for this.  The Rule of Saint Benedict states “Welcome a stranger as if that person was Jesus Christ himself” (based on Galatians 4:14).  We want to live out this kind of welcoming love to all persons who would come to our church.  One of our families went to another church in the community every Sunday for three months “to try it out” and after three months said, “No one talked to us for a full three months”!  How sad.  By our friendliness Jesus Christ can be honored.  Let us reach out in love to new people who come to our church welcoming them as if they were Christ himself.
